Anna Miriam fashion illustration is featured in the October issue of Harper's Bazaar Arabia. The brief was to illustrate a runway look from New York Fashion Week from Autumn/Winter '10. I chose to a highlight a Donna Karan look as she is the epitome of a New Yorker.

The illustration will be displayed in an exhibtion during the Harper's Bazaar Fortnight of Fashion event at Fashion Avenue in the Dubai Mall. The winner of the Harper's Bazaar Fashion Illustrator of the Year competition will be announced at the event on Wednesday, October 20 at 6:30pm.

We love presents and today one of our favorite Dubai PR girls sent us some Nivea goodies. We've been using Nivea body products since we were tots but until today we've never tried the Nivea make-up range. We have to admit that sometimes we can be beauty product snobs but after we've tried, worn and lip-kissed napkin tested, we have to say, we're in love.

We received Nivea's newest Black Mystic Mascara and 4 shades of their Extreme Resist Glossies. Both the mascara and glosses had a 2 step process. The mascara was a no brainer for us, step 1 involved volumizing our lashes and in step 2 we layered them with the mystic black pearl to get our lashes to really stand out. We really liked that the mascara separated our lashes while keeping them thick without looking heavy.

We were a little intimidated by the strong color of the lip glosses, we barely venture from nude to very nude but when life gives you colors in the form of lipsticks, we say pucker up - and so we did. We couldn't believe how much we loved the Nivea glosses. Our lips get super dry in Dubai, we are constantly using lip balm and are always in two minds to use lipstick or lip gloss. The Nivea glosses fixed all of our concerns, first we evenly and lightly coated our lips with color (a little will go a long way). We were surprised by how smooth it went on and no sign of dry lips. We waited about a minute for the gloss to set and then we layered the step 2 pearly gloss over our lips, which resulted in "is it lip gloss or is it lipstick?" wonderfulness. It had the staying power of lipstick with cool a lipgloss look (without being sticky).

Nivea Extreme Resist Glossies are here to stay - literally (we had to use an oil based make up remover to get the color off). We're so surprised how much we loved the colors. Our fav was defnitely cherry pink!

Thanks to our PR angel for sending us Nivea goodies, we loved the brand before and now we're obsessed!

Nothing makes us happier than receiving a Lamis Khamis package in the post. The pink parcel came from Spoiledbrat.co.uk, the content, a highly coveted Lamis Khamis suede fringed waistcoat that when worn can bring one into a state of euphoria or at least make the perfect LES (lower east side) addition to your outfit.

Of course, as soon as the Lamis khamis waistcoat reached our hands we had to do an impromptu photoshoot which resulted in some Shoreditch meets Khaleej wonderfulness. Get ready to see us in this waistcoast everywhere, we may not have many outdoor concerts in the Emirates but you can count on us being festival-ready faster than you can say a new mall has just opened up in the UAE.

Lamis Khamis is available to buy in Lebanon, the UAE and online (see www.annamiriam.com/directory/l)

Yes, www.annamiriam.com has had a facelift! We are now facebook friendly, twitter happy and to put it simply, looking ridiculously fabulous. Of course, this is all thanks to Puneet Sakhuja of www.puneetsakhuja.com.

We try not to judge books by their covers but we sure do judge websites by theirs, so we knew whoever was going to help us build our site better be pretty kick-a**. We google'd webdevlopers, we got mediocre references and we found big corporate dirham-a-dozen companies that were really only interested in delivering dirham-a-dozen websites. We seemed to have lost all hope until we found Puneet Sakhuja's site.

Puneet's site intrigued us, it was well designed, coherent and to be honest, it was just cool - not just his site, but the websites he made. You could tell that this wasn't about android x making a website y for person z. Just as it was important to us to have someone kick-a** to build our site, it was important to Puneet to build kick-a** site. Thus, an internet match made in cyber heaven was created.

We aren't stage-parents at www.annamiriam.com, in the best of times we are lovely and cheerful to deal with but in the worst of times we can be demanding and email irritating. What can we say, we want what we want. Puneet was a dream to work with, not only did he immediately respond to all of our obsessive questions with reassuring, cool, calm and collected answers but he always anticipated our needs! He was always two steps ahead of us! Talk about a digital work out!

We can't praise Puneet Sakhuja enough, he's made our internet dreams come true.

A good friend once told me that she had "fashion visions". These were moments or rather, fashion epiphanies where a look you have imagined comes together. I had one of these visions the other month while reading my beloved Harper's Bazaar Arabia. I was flipping through the pages when I saw the gorgeous Aljoud Lootah, owner and designer of Dubai based fashion brand, Niftee (we posted it here). She was pictured with two looks from her latest collection, a jumpsuit and maxi dress that would make hippy chic queen herself, Nicole Richie, go gaga over.

Fashion visions are triggered by a change, it could be a change in season, change in trend or a change in one's self. My vision was and is all about a new me, one that is filled with peace, love, sunshine and happiness. It's about wearing color or at least not wearing black everyday, it's about a brighter perspective on life and in fashion. Out in the Gulf there is a lot of love and sunshine, so why shouldn't my fashion choices reflect it?

I immediately ordered the jumpsuit and the following week a lovely Niftee package arrived at my door. One of the things I really love about Niftee is attention to detail. The bag was branded in their Niftee illustration and the jumpsuit was wrapped in their lime green tissue paper. The jumpsuit completely encompassed my fashion vision, handmade to perfection (talk about love and happiness!) and a wonderful balance between the softness of the jumpsuit and hardness of the geometric designs.

Here's to Gulf days in Niftee!

    Peace, love, sunshine and happiness!
