Our favorite Gulf artist, Khawla Al Marri, recently exhibited her new series Archive80 based on 80's "khaleeji" TV shows. Khawla never fails to impress us with her originality, creativity, brush strokes and color. If you haven't already checked out her site then do it.
THIS IS ART. KHAWLA, YOU'RE A STAR.

The amazing BurJuman will be donating 2000 vouchers to women in the UAE for a free mammogram. Mammograms help detect breast cancer as well as other complications and are important to keeping women healthy. Tests will take place at Al Zahra Hospital and the Canadian Specialist Hospital. The vouchers entitling nominated women to a free check-up will be handed out at the ‘Free Mammogram Camp’ held at BurJuman on October 22, from 12 noon to 8pm.

Anna Miriam fashion illustration is featured in the October issue of Harper's Bazaar Arabia. The brief was to illustrate a runway look from New York Fashion Week from Autumn/Winter '10. I chose to a highlight a Donna Karan look as she is the epitome of a New Yorker.
The illustration will be displayed in an exhibtion during the Harper's Bazaar Fortnight of Fashion event at Fashion Avenue in the Dubai Mall. The winner of the Harper's Bazaar Fashion Illustrator of the Year competition will be announced at the event on Wednesday, October 20 at 6:30pm.

We're completely obsessed with Esmod University Dubai's class of 2010, Elmira Borubaeva. Specializing in costume design, Elmira based her graduating collection on the movie Van Helsing.
Spending months researching gothic design and architecture, Elmira's collection is a dark, cool and sophisticated. We see costume inspiration for Lady Gaga's next music video in Elmira clothes.
Congratulations on the exquisite collection Elmira, we can't wait to see what you will design next.
To get in touch with Elmira, email her at b.emma13@yahoo.com.
